English Electric EE1 Plus – Worth your time?

A pleasant surprise…

English Electric EE1 Plus – Worth your time?

The English Electric EE1 Plus has one goal: to eliminate network noise generated by household devices to give you the clearest audio playback possible.

So, how does it do this?

Simply put – it converts unwanted noise into heat that dissipates through its aluminium chassis.

Much like its brother, the EE1, the EE1 Plus sits discreetly between ethernet cables and requires no external power supply. The definition of Plug & Play.

The Original English Electric EE1

It builds upon the lessons learned since the debut of the original EE1 back in 2023. The EE1 Plus boasts galvanic isolation, targeted common-mode filtering and Chord’s proprietary ARAY technology. All of this results in a much cleaner presentation that you don’t even realise is possible. You really need to hear it yourself to believe it!

Setup

There is no wrong way to install the EE1 Plus into your system. For the sake of demonstrations at our shop in Ashford, we tend to put one just before the streamer. However, we do recommend giving different locations in your system a try and see the results yourself. You can even have multiple in your system to further reduce unwanted noise.

See a few example setups below:

Soundcraft’s Opinion

When we plugged this into our reference system on our shop floor, we immediately felt an increased sense of space and therefore scale in the music.

We often use London Grammar’s “Hey Now” as a demo track for its high recording quality. From vocals to instruments, it is quite a varied track and provides a wide soundscape to pick out details from.

With the EE1 Plus installed, we immediately felt that each instrument had more room for itself. It widened the soundstage to a point that if you closed your eyes, it doesn’t really feel like you’re listening to a pair of speakers but closer to a live performance.

Bass was tighter. Vocals clearer. Overall we felt it was a marked improvement and is worth your time to at least try.

Decide for yourself!

Products like these are always a point of controversy. It’s a digital signal – so how is any sort of improvement possible? It’s just 1’s and 0’s right? We totally understand this sentiment. So at Soundcraft, we believe the best thing to do is to allow you to try it in your own home on the system you already know back to front and see if you can hear the difference. I truly believe you will be pleasantly surprised at the improvement you hear.

If you are interested in trying one, get in contact with us and we will be happy to loan you one.
